Services

Roofs after hail or wind

A roof that hail or wind has damaged comes down to the deck and goes back on in the right order.

Some storms take a slope, some take everything. We count the damage on each slope, show you the photos and write the scope to match: repair what can be repaired, and replace what can't.

What's included

  • Tear-off to the deck and haul-away

  • Deck repair, priced per sheet before we start

  • Underlayment, drip edge, starter strip and flashing

  • Vents, ridge and pipe boots

  • A magnet sweep of the yard and gutters

Not included

What this work doesn't cover

  • Interior finishes

Ceilings and insulation below the roof are a separate scope. See Water and interiors.

  • Solar panels

Taking panels off and putting them back is done by the people who installed them.

  • Gutters

They are priced with Siding and gutters, so the two can be set beside your insurer's lines.

Cost

What changes the cost

  • Size and pitch

A steep or tall roof needs more equipment and more time.

  • Layers of old roofing

Each layer is more to tear off and haul away.

  • The deck

We see it only once the old roof is off, so deck repair has a written price per sheet before we start.

  • The material

Asphalt shingle, metal or something else. Tell us which your insurer's estimate priced.

  • Code items

Edges, barriers and the permit if your job needs one.

How it goes

The work, in order

  1. 01
    Us

    Step 1: The visit

We walk every slope, count the damage and photograph it. You don't need to be on the roof.

  2. 02
    Us

    Step 2: The number

A written estimate in the order of your insurer's, with the deck priced per sheet.

  3. 03
    Us

    Step 3: Tear-off and dry-in

The crew works slope by slope so the house is never open to the weather overnight.

  4. 04
    You

Step 4: The new roof and the last walk

New roof, cleanup and a walk with you. The photos go to you for your insurer.

Questions about this work

Do I need a whole new roof?

It depends on the damage on each slope and on the age and kind of roof. We show you the photos for every slope, and your insurer decides what the policy pays.

Will the new shingles match?

Shingles change over the years. We'll show you what's available beside what is on your roof, so you can decide with your eyes open.

Who pulls the permit?

The city or county decides whether a job needs one. When it does, we pull it, and it's a line in the estimate.

Can you start before the insurer approves?

We can tarp right away. We won't start the rebuild until you've signed a contract.
