Siding and gutters

Wind tears siding off a wall and hail dents gutters and soft metal. We rebuild the wall to the studs if that's what it needs.

Most siding damage shows from the ground. What doesn't show is the wrap under it. We check that as the old siding comes off, so it's repaired once.

What's included

  • Siding and trim, replaced to match as far as it can be

  • House wrap and flashing where the wall was open

  • Gutters, downspouts and splash blocks

  • Painted or pre-finished trim

  • Cleanup of the yard and beds

Not included

What this work doesn't cover

  • Painting

New siding comes pre-finished or primed. A full repaint is a separate job.

  • Windows

We reset them if a wall needs it, but replacements are on the Windows and doors page.

  • Fences

    See Garages and fences.

Cost

What changes the cost

  • Wall height and area

The more wall, the more material and staging.

  • Matching

Colors and profiles are discontinued over time. We photograph and test what's available.

  • What's under it

Wet or damaged wrap and sheathing are repaired before new siding goes on.

  • Trim and corners

Old trim is often part of the repair.

  • Gutter material

Aluminum or steel, and the length of the run.

Questions about this work

Will you match what I have?

We'll show you the closest available beside your siding. Whether your insurer pays to replace undamaged walls to match is a policy question; we'll help you ask.

Is my siding painted with lead paint?

If your house was built before 1978, the paint may contain lead. EPA's lead rule covers paid work on it. Tell us the year, and see Registration and insurance for what we hold.
